Prologis takes pride in providing extraordinary customer service and was deeply gratified when several customers recognized the Prologis China team for superb service during the country’s Singles’ Day fulfillment period. The Chinese holiday on November 11 (represented as 11/11 because the number “1” symbolizes single status) is an anti-Valentine’s Day, where young adults celebrate their pride in being single. In 2008, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba transformed Singles’ Day into a shopping extravaganza, and it is now the world’s biggest online purchasing day, seeing nearly twice the sales of the United States' Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. Singles’ Day 2017 brought in over $25.3 billion for Alibaba.

With world-class facilities near large populations throughout China, Prologis China has many customers in the e-commerce sector. As such, Singles’ Day marks the busiest time of year for most of our customers with peak volumes flowing through warehouses and distribution centers. In preparation for the holiday, Prologis property management teams coordinated with tenants, firefighters and local police to help ensure the facilities were safe, organized and efficient.

Customers appreciated the support, and several visited Prologis offices throughout China to present silk banners as tokens of appreciation. So far, a total of 13 banners have been delivered to eight logistics centers across all four regions—North, South, East and West.
