Nantong, a significatn hub at the intersection of China's coastal economic belt and the Yangtze River economic belt

Nantong, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, is one of the city groups in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD). Known as the northern gateway of the Greater Shanghai area, the city has been included as part of our YRD regional expansion strategy due to its unique geographical location, strong industrial clusters and integration with Shanghai.

Its developed city road network enables access to major YRD cities, such as Shanghai, Wuxi and Suzhou. In addition, the new Nantong airport, known as Shanghai’s third airport, will benefit the development of local industries, such as air logistics and modern services, as well as the complementary and synergetic development of industries between Shanghai and Nantong.

Nantong’s manufacturing sector has been traditionally focused on the cotton spinning industry and salt production. Now the city is shifting towards more advanced manufacturing (e.g. high-end equipment, new energy and equipment manufacturing), alongside the upgrading of the city’s industries and its increasingly closer economic ties with neighboring cities. The city’s service sector has been growing faster than the manufacturing sector and accounted for over 50% of total fixed-asset investment. IT, finance and R&D services are leading the growth.
