For the fourth consecutive year, Prologis CEO Hamid R. Moghadam has been included in Harvard Business Review’s 100 Best-Performing CEOs in the World list.
At #17, Moghadam is HBR’s highest-ranked real estate executive. He has moved steadily up the list since his debut: #53 in 2016; #43 in 2017; and #17 in 2018.
The list, which ranks the 100 top executives who have implemented long-term strategies that have resulted in established and proven track records, is based on financial returns during a CEO’s entire tenure. Importantly, it also factors in company performance on environmental stewardship, social responsibility and governance (ESG) issues.
For the past four years, HBR has weighted ESG scores to account for 20 percent of each CEO’s final ranking. This year, the formula changed—with an increase in that share to 30 percent. According to HBR, this shift reflects the fact that a fast-growing number of funds and individuals now focus on far more than bottom-line metrics when making investment decisions. Those decisions are increasingly focused on how a corporation serves not just its shareholders but also other key stakeholders—for example, employees, customers, suppliers and communities.
