Despite, or perhaps as a result of, its location in the shadows of much larger neighbors, Jiaxing, China, has emerged as an important regional economic engine. With a population of 4.6 million, Jiaxing sits squarely in the middle of East China’s hotbed of economic activity.

About an hour by road from Shanghai, Jiaxing borders major cities, including Hangzhou and Huzhou. The Grand Canal, which connects Beijing to Hangzhou and is the world’s largest man-made waterway, courses through Jiaxing. Jiaxing is just 90 minutes from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and the Port of Shanghai.

Textiles and leather are among Jiaxing’s major industries. China’s first nuclear power plant of its own design, the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, is in Jiaxing. A network of industrial properties and warehouses serves Jiaxing’s growing array of industries and burgeoning middle class.

Prologis owns and operates logistics and distribution facilities in Jiaxing.
